Well the time has come, and the Slick kick off the tournament schedule in Tillsonburg, May 14th at 2:45pm. It's the first tournament since our 10th place finish in Provincials last September.

The roster looks as good as ever, with Shorty joining us for the first time since last fall, with the addition of the Paulings full-time this year, and Valaincourt emerging as another ace pitcher, we are deeper than we ever have been.

Lets kick of the year right and earn that qualifier for Moncton next year!!

The Sarnia Slick only have one speed, and thats GO!

Sarnia Bandits Year End News

Posted by wsb5 on November 25, 2010 at 10:32 AM Comments comments (0)

The Sarnia Bandits, established in 2009, had a great year in 2010. With the multiple tournament entries, such as SPN Nationals in Moncton, NB (20th of 52) and SPN Provincials Niagara Falls, ON (10th of 141) and many SPC tournaments. As well as league play in the Bluewater Slo-pitch league, where they finished 8th overall, and Finalists in the Year End Tournament.

The Bandits were the talk of the city of Sarnia for representing the community at such tournaments, with respectable play and demeanor.

With many changes to the roster, player retirements and trades, the team has chosen to change names and sponsors heading into the 2011 season.

The Softball club has some obstacles to overcome in the 2011 season as they grow as a team. Because of there 10th place finish at provincials, they have been bumped to play mens "C" next year, the good news is, that same roster should be in tact. Darcy Sheffer, Travis Dunlop, Jayson Morreau, Dave Cope, Kevin Karelson, Don Round, Steve Lewicki, Mike 'KEEB' Joseph, Shayne Mathieu and Landon Marsh.

Contract negotiations are on going with Tom Samko and Rick Taylor, and the team has parted ways with Morgan Loosemore, John Lester and Spencer Staniland. Shaun Fulton, a big part of the teams 2nd place finish at year end, has officially semi-retired from Slo-Pitch, and will serve only as a spare.

The Year end party went very well at the sponsor PUCK AROUND, most players showed up for the free food we accumulated during the year, and all had some well deserved drinks.

One of the most notable awards went to Dave Cope for the "Best Mustache", and Steve Young for the "Best out of province Pickup" (Natasha in Moncton).

A great team, a good name, a decent year!

Thanks to all that helped support us!
